Last Wednesday, Holmbury swapped spreadsheets for cryptic codes, emails for puzzles, and deadlines for locks, as we embarked on a team-building adventure at an escape room.

Almost immediately, our teams were thrown into a series of challenging puzzles. Each puzzle required different skills—some needed logic, others observation, while some relied on quick thinking and creativity. It was interesting for us all to see our colleague’s step into new roles outside of work, revealing hidden strengths.

As you can imagine, we quickly learned that the only way out was through teamwork. Shouting out discoveries, sharing ideas, and making sure no one got stuck on a single task were essential to our escape. We learned to rely on each other’s strengths, delegate tasks naturally, and communicate effectively—even under the pressure of a ticking clock!

Thankfully we all escaped! And it’s safe to say, team work really does make the dream work!

After the escape, we all agreed how much fun it was and how it brought out new sides of everyone. The experience not only left us with great memories but also strengthened our bond as colleagues, reminding us of the importance of collaboration, trust, and a shared sense of achievement.

Completing the escape room as a team was an absolute blast—and an experience we would all recommend to any team looking to strengthen relationships and blow off some steam! If you’re looking for a fun, challenging, and highly rewarding team-building activity, escape rooms should be at the top of your list!

Now, who’s ready for round two?

With business constantly expanding for Holmbury, we have recently appointed four new area sales managers to our team, as well as a new applications engineer to our US branch…

To care for Scotland and the North of England, we introduce David Morton. David has brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from within the industry. He began his career in engineering in the early 80’s serving his apprenticeship as a Mechanical Engineer. His transition over to sales came after meeting a former work colleague and friend, and David has been in the sales world ever since. He enjoys the process of learning customers needs/problems and offering a potential solution.

Next, we welcome Anthony Fountain. Anthony joins Holmbury after spending nearly eight years with Parker Hydraulics and Pneumatics as Sales Engineer. Prior to his time at Parker, he served in the British Army for seven years working as a Mechanical Engineer/Armourer – thanks to his experience, Anthony brings a great mix of knowledge and technical expertise to his role as East Area Sales Manager.

Mitchell Wiese has joined the Holmbury Inc team with seven years of experience in the hydraulic quick coupling industry as an Applications Engineer. He graduated with a BSME from the University of Toledo in 2017 and is always eager to learn about the ever evolving hydraulic industry. In his free time, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his wife finding the best cup of coffee or meal in town, watching the Dallas Cowboys or New York Knicks.

Another addition to our US team, Jack Baker. Holmbury Inc welcomes Jack as the Northeast Area Sales Manager, covering the Northeast US and Canada. To the team, Jack contributes over ten years of industry experience, from both Sales and Engineering roles. We are very excited to welcome Jack to the team.

Finally, meet Matt Welch. Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three wonderful children, hunting, fishing, and gaming. Matt has been in the hydraulic industry for 16+ years, with a lot of responsibility focused in sales roles for many OEM customers and managing internal sales responsibilities. He enjoys getting involved with application specific solutions and seeing the recommended product being applied to solve customers problems.

Holmbury is confident that with all the extensive experience from these new team members and their new dynamic approaches, that their additions to our team will significantly contribute to the company’s growth and success in the coming years.

Welcome, all!

Holmbury built it’s reputation primarily in the construction and agricultural markets but, as the product portfolio grew so did the exploration into new markets. Holmbury products are present in many specialised marine applications, here is one such example.

Hydraulic boat lifts are mechanical devices designed to raise and lower boats in and out of the water. They serve several purposes, primarily aimed at protecting boats from damage caused by prolonged exposure to water, such as corrosion, marine growth, and hull degradation. Boat lifts are commonly used in marinas, yacht clubs, private docks, and waterfront properties.

Using the Holmbury PSP series on boat lifts is a practical choice due to its robust design and ability to withstand harsh marine environments. The PSP series’ durability, corrosion resistance, and high-pressure capabilities make it well-suited for this application. Its screw-to-connect design allows for quick and easy connection and disconnection, which is beneficial for maintenance and operation tasks associated with boat lifts.

The Holmbury PSP coupling offers many benefits to the boat owner/operator. By utilizing the PSP series on boat lifts, operators can expect reliable performance, reduced downtime, and increased longevity of their hydraulic systems, ultimately contributing to smoother and safer boat lifting operations. Additionally, these couplings may offer compatibility with existing hydraulic systems commonly found in boat lift installations, making integration relatively straightforward.
